I followed the suggestion to make 1 1/2 times the filling and they are perfect. I didn't need to line the pan but I used a glass pan, which may make a difference. I don't like honey so I used maple syrup but if you like the flavor of honey I'm sure they would be great with that too. The shortbread crust is amazing - to be honest I didn't see how it was going to work but it does and it is delicious.

This will be my go- to recipe for pecan bars from now on. Big hit at my house! I added dark chocolate pieces before baking which put this over the top. The shortbread crust is perfect. Beyond indulgent and delicious!

My family begs me to make them. I forgot to mention that I used salted butter. We love these! Because of reviewer suggestions, I made 1- 1/2 of filling. Glad I did. I was careful not to overcook the filling so it stayed softer. The hot base shortbread recipe is perfect as is. Thanks for suggestion to line pan. My only ingredient change was dark Karo syrup instead of honey.

Nummy good!!! These are good but for me the cook time was off for both the base and filling. I took both out at. I didn't use the honey as that seemed a weird flavor for pecan pie so used Karo syrup instead. I'll make these again but cook less. I lined the pan with aluminum foil, waited until cooled to cut and had no sticking problems. I doubled the recipe and made it in a bigger 1. I opted for the maple syrup (instead of honey) which is what I use in my pecan pies.

I made these with brown sugar since I did not have light brown. They tasted good but I found the topping too candy like for my taste. I made this for a group and many people liked it. This is one of those recipes that produces contented murmuring at any potluck. People will start asking who brought them and when they find out it was you they will beg for the recipe. If you share it,however; they then will learn how incredibly easy they are to make. So easy and such a hit!

Making them for the second time in a week, this time for an office potluck. I subbed maple syrup for the honey and used salted butter in the topping because I had some to use up; I'd either do the same in the future or add a bit of salt as it really worked. Might try browning the butter, too.. As others said, definitely more candy than cookie. I cut them small and got more like 4. I tried two different ideas with the Pecan recipe. I added 3 cups of chopped nuts and it worked great.

I also tried this recipe with walnuts and it was equally delicious. I also lined the pan with heavy duty foil and gave it a good dose of cooking spray. When it came time to cut the cookies I just lifted them out of the pan with the foil.

I drizzle melted white chocolate and dark chocolate over the cooled bars and let set prior to serving.

I've made this recipe many times, and it is incredibly easy & delicious! Two things I would mention: (1) no not overcook the butter / pecan filling as it will become too hard when baked if you do, and (2) use the suggestion of others that say to line the pan with parchment or foil as it makes getting the bars out of the pan so much easier. I also use about 1 1/2 the amount of pecans and rough chop the 1st 2 cups then add an additional cup of non- chopped halves, but this is just personal preference. They are fine just as directed. It is the easiest pecan- pie bars I've ever made that are this delicious! There is never a morsel left on the plate when you serve these! What a wonderfully easy, tasty bar!!!

I always line my pan with Release aluminum foil, and I substitute Karo syrup (usually a mix of light and dark) for the honey. The Karo makes these bars more like real pecan pie.
