I also tried the Java Breaker and it was perfect . It wasn't too sweet and it had just the right taste of espresso! I loved it . I honestly wanted to try more. I'll definitely be back to explore more flavors! I want to live here. I would be perfectly content just eating these donuts for the rest of my life, it would be totally fine because they have every flavor imaginable and you can customize your own donuts! Roasted Pork Loin.
Everything is vegan to boot!! The only downside is that they don't exist in more states and I am only able to get these when I am in town.
They're so good, I almost missed my flight home because I HAD to go to Pasadena and get these before going to the airport, braving rush hour LA traffic. They're so good, I wanted to pay them to send them to WA state for my wedding to use instead of a cake. They're so good, I buy 3 dozen then freeze them and eat them for the next 2 months. They're so good, I literally have dreams about them and go onto their website to look at pictures when I'm having a bad day. They're so good, I'd fight my grandmother for the last one!
Donut friend? More like donut fiend! I'll be the first person to admit that I'm not a huge fan of donuts. They're one of the foods I could go the rest of my life without eating. I'm just not that into them. But even I have to admit the donut I had here was pretty dang good.
Found the truck at Smorgasburg, our group ordered the XRay Speculoos- traditional donut stuffed with cookie butter, topped with chocolate glaze and sea salt! Bonus points for the fun menu names taken from some of my favorite bands (Poppyghandi, Jets to Basil, Fudgegazi). The donut was fresh, the right amount of cookie butter was used, and the sea salt kept it from being too sweet. Donuts still aren't my thing, but I'd persuade friends to try them just so I can get a taste.
Best vegan yeast donuts I've ever had. The filled versions are too rich for me, but love all of the fruit glazed flavors.
I wasn't really a donut person, my sweets of choice are usually a cupcake or frozen yogurt/ ice cream. But Donut Friend hanged my mind about them. They offer vegan versions of their many flavors as well and have create your own donut choices and also ice cream donut sandwiches and other combos you can think of to go with your donuts. All donuts have music related names like referencing songs or bands.
It's in this funky art district lines with tattoo shops and juice bars and car shops. I tried the Nutella vision and love anyway I can have Nutella for breakfast, I took a box home and they survived a flight in it was the Joyce Lavender (another favorite), and I will list the other flavors in the photo caption. They have a menu in the store too so you know what they have but also have a lot of seasonal and rotational changes so come on it and try them! DARE I SAY.. these are my favorite donuts of all time?
I absolutely LOVE donuts and these completely blew me away. From presentation to taste. They're decorated so beautifully and they have such interesting flavors! They're also vegan..
The matcha donut and berry donuts are my favorite. They're just way too tasty to pass up and they just taste so fresh.
I'm in awe. SO chewy, not too overly sweet, and THE FLAVORS. Next time, I'm going to get one of each.. Still salivating thinking about these ; (Wow wow wow. I'm not even a huge donut fan but.. THESE ARE GOOD! They are vegan and the store is set up really well for a small space. Service was really friendly.
The Fudgazi was amazing!! It's a glazed donut sandwhiching chocolate mousse topped with a chocolate glaze. The custard cream one was delicious as well (forgot the name) - it was like a boston cream style donut. Plenty existing combos to choose from or they have a custom donut bar where you can create your own donut magic! Pricey at $3- 5 for a single donut, but well worth it. I'll be back! I had been wanting to try Donut Friend for a while and finally had the opportunity. It was a great experience overall.
They have many different donuts to choose from (all vegan) and they have their own donut creations already made. If you choose you can make your own with a glazed, vanilla cake, or chocolate cake donut.
You can pick fillings (jams, creams, ice- creams, etc) and there are glazes and toppings to bring it all together. We ended up picking a creme brûlée and blueberry cake donut and decided to make our own delicious donut.
We went with a glazed filled with nutella and topped with vanilla glaze and pretzels. It was messy and very delicious!
The creme brûlée was awesome with the crunchy topping and creamy center. I would say the blueberry was our least fave, but even that was pretty good. If you ever have the opportunity give Donut Friend a try! I came in around 8 am on a Friday surprisingly it was empty , the service was great the young lady behind the counter was cool she even made a conversation with me . The donuts for me are personally ok nothing that made me wait in line for . The creme brûlée and apple fritter were my favorites.
Donuts average around 2. Donuts! My fluffy, sweet, and sugary friend throughout the years. Donut Friend definitely lives up to all of those adjectives.
I got the DIY yeast vanilla donut with Bavarian cream, apricot ginger jam, vanilla and balsamic drizzles, and toasted almonds. Yeah, that was fun to order. I was pleasantly surprised by the taste!
As someone who is not vegan, I couldn't even tell that there was no eggs/dairy and I definitely wasn't missing it. Don't be fooled, though, because this was by no means healthy. It was crazy sweet- -a little too sweet for my tastes. I think it was the jam, so I would probably pass on next time. Overall, pretty good donuts! Definitely bougie and definitely sweet, but worth it!
