It rose less than I expected on the first, overnight rise, but pretty spectacularly on the second, two- hour rise. It also, however, developed one or two large air bubbles just under the top skin, and I'm never sure what to do about that. Should I pop them before baking so they don't burn? Should I slash/score the loaf before baking? It looks from the recipe photo like the loaf might have been scored before going in the oven, but it's hard to tell.

I popped them gently with a knife but didn't score the loaf, and it turned out pretty tasty. I'm going to use fewer cranberries and walnuts next time (I omitted raisins, don't like them) because I think there are too many bits and the bread stays a bit too moist.
